...Increased fire danger this afternoon and evening across North
Carolina...
Strong, breezy northwesterly winds with gusts of 25 to 35 mph,
will combine with relative humidity levels dipping as low as 25 to
30 percent creating elevated fire danger conditions again on
Thursday across western North Carolina.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn today or Thursday. If you do burn, you are advised
to use extreme caution.

MOUNTAINS...
.A passing cold front will produce strong wind gusts tonight in
some of the mountains, particularly at higher elevations. These
gusts are expected to continue through this afternoon. In the wake
of the cold front, cooler temperatures will allow some areas to
fall below freezing later tonight and Friday morning.

FRIDAY...
The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Freeze Warning, which is in effect from midnight tonight to
9 AM EDT Friday. The Freeze Watch is no longer in effect.
* LOCATIONS...The southern mountains and foothills of western
North Carolina.
* TEMPERATURES...Lows around 30.
* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions may damage sensitive
vegetation. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the
cold.
